Numerous participants have recently complained of experiencing photokeratitis symptoms, a condition associated with exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, during their attendance at ApeFest. This event, organized by Yuga Labs, the creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), saw attendees seeking medical assistance due to complaints of blurred vision and burning eyes.

Bored Ape Yacht Club issued a statement on their X profile, noting that

"A very small fraction, less than 1% of event attendees and staff, exhibited these symptoms."

They also advised anyone still experiencing these discomforting symptoms to seek medical attention as a precaution.

However, this response from Bored Ape Yacht Club triggered frustration among attendees, with many pointing fingers at the organizers for downplaying the severity of the incident.

One attendee disclosed that their eye problems, diagnosed as photokeratitis, persisted for over 30 hours after the event. Photokeratitis is a condition triggered by exposure to UV light.

The event, which took place in Hong Kong, featured the use of lasers and strobe lights.

Several attendees suggested that the issue might have arisen from the use of improper light bulbs.

Meanwhile, the floor price of Bored Ape NFTs experienced a drop, reaching a low of 28.4 ether (ETH), down from a high of 32 ETH on November 1st.
