In a notable development, transaction volumes within the network have eclipsed those of Solana-based applications, indicating a significant shift in momentum post the December surge fueled by meme coins. The spotlight was on Arbitrum's ARB token on Wednesday as it surged to nearly $2, hitting an unprecedented peak, while the total value locked (TVL) soared beyond an impressive $2.5 billion. Traders appear to be drawn to the network in anticipation of it leading the charge into the next phase of growth within the crypto market.

Over the past 24 hours, the price has experienced a robust 10% surge, outperforming the broader crypto market. Simultaneously, on-chain volumes for Arbitrum-based applications exceeded a noteworthy $920 million. The substantial influx into Arbitrum has effectively overshadowed transaction volumes of Solana-based applications, which witnessed a surge during the meme coin frenzy in December.

DefiLlama's data provides insights into this impressive growth, revealing a staggering increase of $1 billion in TVL on Arbitrum-based applications since October, accompanied by a notable rise in net inflows.

Arbitrum's token incentives have evidently played a pivotal role in capturing attention towards ecosystem opportunities. In the recent week, users of decentralized exchanges GMX and Gains Network have reaped the benefits of increased rewards and reduced fees, courtesy of the incentive plan, thereby likely fostering a positive sentiment towards ARB tokens.

Back in October, Arbitrum distributed approximately $40 million worth of ARB tokens to projects within its network as part of a short-term incentives program. Projects received varying amounts, ranging from a few thousand dollars to an impressive $30 million worth of ARB tokens. GMX emerged as the top recipient, securing 12 million ARB valued at just over $10 million, closely followed by Gains Network with 7 million ARB tokens.
